Trevor Anderson

Co-Founder & CFO, Collaborative Construction

Trevor Anderson is Co-Founder and CFO of Collaborative Construction, a general contractor specializing in residential and commercial renovations in Regina, Saskatchewan. He runs the financial and operational side of the business: the numbers and the systems that let a growing team deliver the same quality on every job.

About Trevor

Trevor came to construction from finance and data, and it shows in how Collaborative Construction is run. He builds the forecasting, job costing, compensation models, and scorecards that let the team see each week whether the work they are doing is getting the company where it wants to go. The business runs on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), which puts a clear owner and a measurable number on every part of the company.

The part people don’t expect from the finance guy is how much of his attention goes to culture. Trevor and his business partner Derek Wu built the company on four core values (Integrity, Reputation, Passion, Family) and use them for the real decisions, like who gets hired and which jobs they say yes to. Clear systems take the guesswork out of a job, and that is what frees people up to take ownership of it.

Areas of Expertise

Construction Business Finance and Operations

Cash flow, job costing, forecasting, and financial reporting for construction companies, and why some grow while others plateau.

Business Systems and Process Design

Repeatable ways of getting work done, from project management workflows to performance tracking, so the team is not relying on one person to hold it all together.

Team Culture and People Management

Building a construction workplace where people stay and grow, and the leadership habits and incentives that make that happen.

Renovation Planning and Project Delivery

How a well-planned renovation comes together, from the first conversation through scoping, budgeting, and construction, with fewer surprises for the people living through it.

Real Estate Development and Heritage Redevelopment

Converting existing buildings (including designated heritage properties) to new uses while respecting the character of what is already there.

Experience

Trevor and Derek met at the University of Regina, bought their first rental property together, and started renovating it themselves. Evenings and weekends went into that property and the ones that followed, using the BRRRR method (buy, renovate, rent, refinance, repeat). Those years built the hands-on experience and the working partnership that became Collaborative Construction.

Trevor holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance major) from the University of Regina. Before going full-time with the business he worked at SaskPower, first in Finance and later in Business Analytics and Data Intelligence, measuring performance and finding where processes were breaking down. Not many people in construction come up through that kind of training, and it is the foundation for how Collaborative Construction is run today.

Trevor is an active real estate investor and was part of the team behind the redevelopment of St. Chad’s College and Chapel in Regina, a provincially designated heritage property completed in 1914. The building had sat vacant for years and has since been restored and converted into a private school.

In 2018, Trevor and Derek co-founded Build Love, a non-profit that took on full accessibility renovations for Regina families at no cost to them. The first project made the Kennedy family’s home accessible for their daughter Vienna. The second, in 2019, renovated the Gorski family’s multi-level home so Bonnie Gorski could keep living there with her husband and two children instead of moving to long-term care. Both renovations were built by the community: more than 400 volunteers, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in donated labour and materials. Collaborative Construction’s community work has continued in the years since, through a range of local partnerships and initiatives.

Collaborative Construction is a member of the Association of Professional Builders (APB), and Trevor was a guest on their Professional Builders Secrets podcast (episode 200, Aug 2025) talking systems, culture, and growth. He has also been an early tester of new features for Buildertrend (the project management software many residential builders run on), giving their development team a builder’s view of what works on a live job. Inside the company, he sets aside time to work on the business rather than in it and coaches team members one on one.

Industry Involvement

Systems, Culture & Growth with Trevor

There’s more than one way to build a construction company — and Trevor’s journey proves it.

Trevor joined the Association of Professional Builders podcast to talk about how a background in finance and data strategy helped shape Collaborative Construction into what it is today: a values-driven team built on trust, accountability, and care for the people we work with and the spaces we help transform.

In the episode, he shares how we use numbers to make smarter decisions, design bonus systems that support our people, and keep the client experience front and center through it all.

Let us help you plan, design and execute the renovation of your dreams!
