This past August was a month packed with meaningful moments, community support, and some friendly competition. Collaborative Construction was proud to participate in three charity golf tournaments, each supporting incredible causes close to our hearts. From hitting the greens to raising funds, we were honoured to be a part of these events. Let’s take a look at the highlights:

Habitat for Humanity – Home in One Charity Golf Tournament: Swinging for a Cause

About the Event

We had the privilege to be the Hole-in-One sponsor at this year’s Habitat for Humanity Home in One Charity Golf Tournament. Picture this: a sunny day, a lush green course, and a chance to win a whopping $50,000 toward a home renovation for landing that elusive hole-in-one on our sponsored hole. Exciting, right?

The Heart of Habitat

For those who might not know, Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan’s mission is to ensure that everyone has a safe and decent place to call home. By mobilising communities to help working, lower-income families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, they’re laying down the foundation for better, healthier lives right here in Saskatchewan. And the merger of Habitat Regina, Habitat Saskatoon, and Habitat Prince Albert in early 2021 was a game-changer, expanding their reach to serve even more families across our great province.

Keeping the Spirits High

While no one snagged the grand prize, the energy was off the charts! We brought back our crowd-pleasing Speed Hammer Challenge, adding a little twist this time around. Participants raced against the clock to drive not one, but two nails into a 4×4 post. And boy, did they deliver! A big shout-out to Cassity from Z99 who nailed it with an impressive time of 2:18, walking away with bragging rights and a $500 Rona gift card. Way to swing that hammer, Cassity!

Impact on the Community

Now for the part we’re most proud of—thanks to the amazing turnout and generous spirit of all participants, Habitat raised a staggering $23,000! These funds are a step towards transforming the lives of many families in our community, helping them achieve their dream of homeownership.

Ronald McDonald House Charities – Red Jacket Classic

At this year’s Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Red Jacket Classic, Collaborative Construction brought both our A-game and our hammer game! RMHC’s Red Jacket Classic is more than just a golf tournament; it’s an event that brings together communities, businesses, and families to support an amazing cause—helping families stay close to their children during serious medical treatments.

For those unfamiliar, Ronald McDonald House is a lifeline for families facing unimaginably difficult situations, providing them with a home away from home near hospitals where their children are receiving care. It’s comfort, support, and love wrapped into one.

Friendly Competition

We know how to mix a little fun with purpose, and this time we turned our beloved Speed Hammer Challenge into a full-on team event! Instead of individuals, we had teams of golfers lining up to take turns hammering nails into a 4×4 post. It was a race against time, with teammates passing the hammer one after the other, giving it their all. And guess what? Team Manulife crushed the competition (pun intended), walking away as the Speed Hammer champs and scoring themselves four $25 McDonald’s gift cards. Way to swing, Team Manulife!

A Powerful Moment

But what really moved us this year was the opportunity to host a Ronald McDonald House family at our sponsored hole. Hearing their story first hand brought home the real impact of the charity’s work. It was a reminder of why we do this—the support, the togetherness, and the relief RMHC brings to families when they need it most. We left the day inspired, with a renewed commitment to making a difference.

A Record-Breaking Impact

We’re beyond proud to share that this year’s tournament raised an incredible $54,000! These funds will go directly toward supporting Saskatchewan families, ensuring they can stay together while their little ones receive critical medical care.

And there’s more exciting news—RMHC announced plans to expand their facilities beyond Saskatoon into Regina and Prince Albert, making it easier for families across the province to get the help they need. And we’re excited to partner with Westridge Construction to bring the Regina location to life. It’s moments like this that remind us how important it is to give back and help those in our own backyard!

Duke Golf Classic – Supporting Regina Food Bank

We were truly honoured to take part in the Duke Golf Classic, an annual event that celebrates the legacy of Derek Meyers and his daughter, Teigha. This event is more than just a golf tournament; it’s a way to continue their spirit of generosity and service to others.

The Derek and Teigha Meyers Foundation, created in their memory, focuses on initiatives that Derek was passionate about, like supporting mental health and local community organisations. The goal is simple but impactful: channel grief into positive action, just as Derek would have done.

Of course, no Collab event is complete without our Speed Hammer Challenge! Participants raced to drive a nail into a 4×4 post, with the winner walking away with a DeWalt drill and driver set. It was a fun way to add some extra excitement to the day.

Most importantly, the day was a great success, raising funds and collecting donations for the Regina Food Bank. It was truly special to be part of this event, keeping Derek and Teigha’s legacy alive.
